Creating an Integrated Package Tracking System

Having developed a wealth of experience in over thirty years of specialized proficiency in last-mile delivery services, Progistics Distribution, Inc. had cutting-edge logistics solutions that serve customers in all 48 contiguous states. But the question remained: why limit the knowledge and core ideas obtained from last-mile services when they could be easily applied to a wider range of “factory-to-door” delivery services?

In order to achieve its continued vision, Progistics enlisted our team of developers to assist them in the development and roll-out of a solution that would seamlessly integrate into its existing TAGNET Operations Platform, to support the tracking of packages as they move across the country from dock, to warehouse, and finally to the end customer.

Progistics needed help in extending their expertise and knowledge to a technology platform that would facilitate their “factory-to-door” delivery services. Given that the current TAGNET Operations Platform exclusively catered to last-mile services, it became crucial for the new model to expand Progistics’ capabilities and seamlessly track packages throughout their entire trajectory, from the initial dock phase to the ultimate destination.

Goals

To meet the needs of Progistics, our team developed an Android application to run on hand-held scanners, providing a seamless workflow and user experience to support the onboard/offboard of packages. With key features being:

Furthermore, our team built a next-generation framework in which all modules can reside, including the initial module providing flexible, configurable options with an unlimited number of schedules. This framework also integrates with a module to grant room access based on user access level.
